October 23, 2024 in Property Guide
Good Governance is one of the primary determinants of a nation's success and growth, and India is striving diligently to attain it by taking several progressive actions promptly. Good Governance Day is celebrated annually in India on December 25, the birthday of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
E-Sampada, a new online site and mobile application, was launched by the Government of India (GoI) on 25 December 2020 to meet the goals of openness and accountability while ensuring the convenience of life for all citizens. The Government has essentially developed a single platform to administer all GoI Estate Services across the country.
On the occasion of Good Governance Day, the e-Sampada platform was launched in the national capital by the Minister of State(I/C) for Housing & Urban Affairs (MOHUA), Shri Hardeep S. Puri, in the presence of other senior officials. The portal aims to provide a single-window platform for the allotment of over one million govt residential accommodations, the allotment of office and market accommodations to govt organisations, the booking of Holiday homes and Touring Officers hostels at various locations, and the booking of venues such as 5, Ashoka Road, Vigyan Bhawan, etc. for social functions, etc.
What Is e-Sampada?
In the past, Central Government workers applying for housing in Mumbai did so through the E-Awas Mumbai site, which was established as part of the GPRA Mumbai. However, in an effort to deliver 'One Nation, One System,' the Ministry of Urban Affairs established E-Sampada, a single app/portal providing a plethora of services, such as the allocation of more than one lakh government residential accommodations and office space to government organisations.
Previously separate Directorate of Estates websites ( gpra.nic.in, eawas.nic.in, estates.gov.in, holidayhomes.nic.in) and mobile applications (m-Awas & m-Ashoka5) have been merged into a single portal. Eligible government workers can apply for central government housing using the E-Sampada site.
Objective of e-Sampada Portal
The primary goal of the e-Sampada Portal is to offer a centralised location on the web from which citizens can reserve and be assigned government-provided housing and access a variety of estate-related services. Public spaces, vacation rentals, hostels for visiting officials, commercial and government housing, and more may be booked through this central hub. In the past, individuals would have to visit many sites to get information about the aforementioned services; this is no longer the case. They need just go to the e-Sampada site to make an application for any of the aforementioned services. This will improve efficiency and open up the system to more scrutiny. Administrative expenses and paperwork will be minimised with the introduction of this site.
